Looks to me that Franklin Horton has himself a great new series with the Mad Mick. 'Master of Mayhem' picks right up from the first book and is if I may say, the better book of the two. There is a lot to like in this one; especially Barb, who finally gets to shine a bit in what she does best, death and mayhem. All in all, a great book, greatly enjoyed it and only hope there are a few more Mad Micks coming our way.

After thoroughly enjoying the first book, The Mad Mick, I was impatiently waiting on Masters of Mayhem. It definitely did not disappoint! It takes you on a fast-paced, action-filled, rollicking good time, even with the hardships in a post-apocalyptic world. Conor is my ultimate action hero, level-headed, experienced and creative. I do think that Barb is in for some self-imposed trouble ahead, I can’t wait to see! Franklin Horton, you’ve hit another impressive home run! Satisfying length on the book, as well. Loved it! I highly encourage readers to not only read this & the first book, The Mad Mick, but check out his Borrowed World and Locker 9 series as well!

As usual Franklin Horton delivers an amazing read! Loved the plot and flow of this story. Excellent read. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Mad Mick Book 2 continues the good pacing and solid storylines for Book 1. I liked the development of Conor and Ragus especially. Not sure if I still like Barb, but she certainly has a unique personality that is coming out more in this book. Will be interesting to see what twists await her as this series plays out. Horton does a great job with showing the uncertainty of the new world situation and how neighbors and acquaintances are and should be suspicious of almost everyone, and the price they pay if they are not sufficiently cautious. Great book, great series and you will not regret this purchase and the time to read it.

I rated it 6/5 in my own scale. Better than the first book, Mad Mick 2 has loads of excitement and great characters. All the main people are so well drawn, they are 3 dimensional. I read it in one day. It's the end of his adventures; though it's possible another could be written. Very satisfying conclusion.A few typos like 'taught' for 'taut', 'come out right with it' for 'come right out with it' and a few others.

Omg, talk about non stop action! This book is totally engrossing from the get go, it's the best of Hortons books thus far and I finished it at light speed so I'm going to read it again this weekend it's really just that great. Get this book now you won't regret it. Love it!

This book is even better than the first one! As the legend of the Mad Mick grows, safety will surely come to the small mountain towns in the area. Excellent read, characters, and story line ! I give it an A+.

I've been waiting for This book ever since I finished the first of the series. This is another awesome book by this author! I absolutely love this character and his strong willed daughter! I love how this author writes and tells his stories. This book is filled with action, but I also love the comedy that he includes in the story. This is a MUST read!!!!!

This guide gave step by step, easy to follow directions for my daughter to set up her Dot. She loaned it back to me, so I could set up my Echo. Thanks for writing this, as I'm a visual learner and this guide really explained how to set up these devices.

So far I'm about 50% of the way through the book. Most of the content is stuff that you probably already know if you have read or watched reviews online already, but there are a few things I didn't know and a few things I had known but like having them organized in a nice way. My biggest problem with this book is that, since the author is not a native English speaker, there are *many* spelling and grammar mistakes that any spelling and grammar checker should have caught. The writing is good enough to understand the points he is making, but the mistakes make it hard to skim the text, which is probably how you are going to want to read the book. If I were paying full price for this book, I would expect the author to pay for an editor to correct those mistakes.

I bought this book on the basis of 4 stars but, in my view, it deserves only one or two. I just unexpectedly received a Echo Dot as a gift from my daughter and wanted a book to bring me up to some speed quickly, but this book doesn't do it for me. The author is French, but I'm not sure that his limitations with English, whatever they are, account for the disjointedness in the book. It's almost as though Delaoutre dictated the book in French off the top of his head into some French English translation system and then just printed the product out and put a cover on it. There are not infrequent misspellings, improper uses of pronouns, a general awkwardness in phraseology and even the printing is slipshod with very uneven right margins and lines which often end halfway across the page and words begin again on the next line down. Finally, I'm a "mature" user and am unfamiliar with a lot of the music services he names and their pluses and minuses. Perhaps young would-be aficianados of the Echo Dot or Echo who are already very familiar with the numerous sources of music would find the book useful. Delaoutre refers to his mother a few times in the book. I want the book he would write for her assuming she did not speak French. He skimped badly, in my opinion, in not securing the services of a competent editor.

Until very recently, my knowledge about Alexa and the Echo devices was less than minimal. Upon acquiring a Kindle 10 inch 2017 tablet with hands-free-Alexa, I started visualizing possibilities for using - Then I became curious about the Echo devices. I had been wanting a functional intercom system at home, and hoped I could use the devices for that as well as to answer some of my many questions, and to provide music on-the-fly ... for starters. I needed to become better informed, so I purchased several Kindle ebooks on Alexa and Echo and Echo Dot to achieve that purpose. I found THIS book to be the best of those I read about Alexa. It began with some narrative about the beginnings of Alexa and Echo ... and then continued to supply information about the way the devices worked, and to what purpose they could be used. I liked the writing style of the author - As if he were a good friend, sharing information he had so that I would feel comfortable in setting up and using this relatively new technology. There was no "talking down" to the reader, nor was there an overabundance of technical information that might simply cause confusion. I thought he struck a good balance in this regard. While it was obvious that English was not the first language of the author, I didn't find that to be a problem (I should write so well in another language?) The information was quite accessible, interesting and complete, and I found the book to be quite enjoyable. By the time I had finished reading the book, I felt well rewarded for the investment of my reading time and purchase price - I am now much better informed and am comfortable in selecting what is right for my needs, setting up the equipment, and knowing how to use it. I couldn't ask for more.Thank you, Quentin Delaoutre for your valuable help.

Pretty useless, nothing interesting.

Start here before investing in more expensive, third-party books about Alexa. Also, this book is a very good source of information about devices that work with Alex's, such as home automation devices. In most necessary cases, set-up instructions are provided. The 500 "Easter egg" question list at the back of the book is both instructive and fun.

Like all the other Alexa books written in 2016 (disregard "2017" in the title), before the new Echo Plus, this one talks about the need for a hub to set up your smart home. Echo Plus has one built in. That said, there was a lot of helpful guidance on getting started and much information on skills, many of which were by the author. Speaking of Quentin Delaoutre, although he knows a lot about Alexa, English is not his first language. That made it difficult, at times, reading his book, but I could still understand what he was saying. Delaoutre hosts a few web sites featuring Alexa skills and has a weekly email service offering various useful (and some playful) skills. These are all covered in his book.

Many times the guides that has no information that can't be gleaned from obscure sources like the product name. This guy knows his stuff and presents it nicely. Not a native English speaker but it rarely shows and doesn't get in the way. So good book. I recommend it if you are looking for something like this. Nice job Quentin.

This is yet another book in the series on the latest listening software on the market. You are not constrained on which device you own for this book. It is Alexa specific, and not device specific. If you are okay with having Amazon listen to your every thought - after you say the word Alexa, or Computer, or one other name that escapes me at the moment, then buy the device of your choosing, and read this book. It is the part Amazon left out when the provided the device. Their thinking was it is so intuitive that you do not need instructions beyond how to connect it a device of your choosing, and then download the Alexa App for your iOs or Android phone/tablet. This was awesome! It got better and better as you went on. Excitement, suspense and surprises all the way. I love the storyline and that the friendship was more than the romance. It showed what true friends are all about. Aria is a demon hunter and she decides that while she is in this town to kill the demon or demons, she is going to finish school and graduate. First day, she makes friends with Maddie and it feels like they belong together. I remember that feeling with my two best friends in high school. We had that connection and we all felt it. As Maddie and Aria get to know each other, Aria discovers that Maddie is just like her, but she doesn’t know it. To have a friend is out of the ordinary for Aria, but to find someone just like her is extremely rare. Then Ben gets into the picture and he is a half bread and he doesn’t know it. The story gets good as the truth comes out all over the place. There are things that will surprise you and then there are things that will make more sense of the story. All in all, Sherry Ficklin takes you on a fun teenage trip with teen love, teen adventures and best of all, teen fighting a demon.

If Buffy and Supernatural ever merge, I think Demons Lie would be their rebellious teenage love child.No one is more surprised than I am at how much I enjoyed this book. I was skeptical at the beginning because, let’s face it, Supernatural Young Adult books are a dime a dozen and making one stand out is a difficult task. I think Sherry D. Ficklin managed this by creating characters that are not only relatable but also incredibly likeable. With a quick witted and sarcastic demon hunter witch, a loyal-to-the-end best friend and a super adorable half demon how can you really go wrong?I found that the book started out very rushed and was initially concerned that the whole thing would be riding this incredibly high speed wave but the more into the story we get, the more the pace eases up until we get this perfect flow for the remainder of the book.Something that really stood out to me is that the author seemed to focus a lot more on character building and relationships than the actual killing of demons, which I think is pretty smart for the first in a series. I mean, there was still some action and a lot of witchy/demon things going on, but building the friendships of these main characters would be an integral part to the series and I feel like not enough authors put enough effort into building that up right off the hop so big round of applause for that!I honestly absolutely loved this book. Witches, demons, revenge, high school….what more could you really ask for? Demons Lie was the perfect palette cleanser for me and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something that’s comfortably familiar but still incredibly different. It is such a quick read and I will be looking forward to the next installment in the series.I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley and the publisher to read and provide my honest opinion.

A small town is not her usual haunt, but it seems like this particular location is a hot spot for demon activity. As if fated, she ends up meeting another gifted person, just like her, who can aid in the fight against darkness (and high school finals). To make matters a bit tougher, though, Aria's #1 suspect for being a demon hiding in plain sight is a boy who also happens to make her get all nervous and fluttery.Aria's world is and moral decision making is shaken when people who she may have previously deemed killable are suddenly... likable. These characters were so wonderfully young and lovable that I easily got sucked into every bit of YA drama they encountered. Sure, there's still big bads and tough choices, but the romance, action, and magic was perfectly blended together to make an irresistible story. I'm glad there are more of these coming!
