Stumbled across this e-book and took a risk, a most worthwhile one at that. The author does a fine job at taking the reader through a progression of his trading plan. I'd love to see a blog whereby he continues his current strategy and publishes the ongoing results, as well as publishing the J-L strategy (here on AMZN, for purchase!) that he eludes to in this e-book.
Respect the man who has put in 100's of hours which allowed him to hone in on a better return with this structure. He is sharing his hard work with you...
EXCELLENT!! For less than the commission cost of one trade, you get 18 months of experience in real-life trading. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to his sequel on trading Jade Lizards. And if you're an Iron Condor seller, I highly recommend his first book "Trading the Iron Condor Confidently" - unlike other books that spend half their time explaining what an option is, Mr. Ellinger's book is for active traders looking for an exact recipe on entrance, exit and adjustments.
As a tasty trader (look it up on the Internet), I was very grateful to see someone taking those concepts and modifying them to see if more potential existed. I think he does a great job of explaining what he did and learned along the way. Recognizing there is more to do. Few people research what is really better when trading options and just write books on something they think they know, but are actually dead wrong (like buying a strangle or straddle are the best strategies). If they only researched the facts first. This book reviewed others research and extended the topic further. Great job!This book has unique concepts that you will not find anywhere else. You might argue about typos, writing technique, statistical analysis ability, or other things he should consider in his trades, but they are minor to reviewing the material in this book. His ideas presented are unique and a valuable read for any experienced options trader planning to trade earnings announcements.My complaints. I would like a final list of his criteria at the end. I got confused on the exact parameters being used in the end. I would like to see a longer timeframe for results (all of 2015 at least). Using ThinkorSwim time machine is designed for back testing strategies. I think the understanding of BPR presented is wrong. I suspect he has portfolio margin on his account. Using normal margin BPR is consistent and would be a better basis for discussion and understanding by others. Portfolio margin is based on existing positions in the account and extremely variable. Standard margin uses an expected 2 std deviation move. Finally, I don't know if this is how a statistical study should be presented. It really doesn't matter. There are so few in options trading, I'll take anything I can get.There are few good, accurate book on trading options and what really makes money in the long term. This book goes beyond that and attempts to improve on the field. Highly recommend.I would like to see the study on Jade Lizards published.
