I'm sorry to say, that while the concept is interesting, the execution is not on par with other R.A. Steffan books. With all scifi/fantasy/PNR, etc., you have to suspend disbelief but this requires so much more than the usual adult PNR that it comes across as YA in several instances.There are also multiple areas of clearly different writing styles which was jarring and instances of telling not showing (ie: Della thinking the staircase looks like the one in Gone with the Wind; which is in no way additive to setting the stage) that were just too much for me to overcome. As a result I don't anticipate continuing this particular series but continue to look forward to reading other works by R.A. Steffan.
Some books are fantastic. Some books are just OK and then you have some that are just bad. This book was bad! I have been looking for a new vampire romance series to get into. I was so excited when I found this one. Boy, was I disappointed!I didn’t think the heroine was really a solid character. Most of the time the book talked about her former life. I just felt that her former life had more description then her current personality. It also talked about how much the hero loved her former life and just automatically loved her because of that. That really doesn’t do it for me.I think this is why I do not like books that involve reincarnation. I understand the concept of having one soul with multiple lifetimes.. but it just contradicts my believe that people change over time and certainly through different time periods. So we’re not the same people. And I want somebody to love me for me not the 112 other “me†floating throughout time. Because I would disassociate myself from them as different people. Connected people but still individual people.But also I just didn’t the story to be engaging. And I also don’t think the author did a good job connecting the storyline from one segment to another. I just didn’t find storyline to be logical or reasonable. The heroine would have internal dialogue with herself that contradicted with her actions. And not only could I not connect with the main characters, the secondary characters were also just blah. The author tried so hard to make Xander the funny quirky but lovable sidekick...fail.I’m just one of those people that have to finish a book if I bought it. And I lost interest probably after 1/3 of the book. And just forced myself to get through all the chapters. What a waste of time, i know! No way am I going to read the second book in the series.. Walking away right now. Looking for new romantic vampire series to invest in. And I recommend that you walk away too, if you value your time and money.
I really tried to get into this book. But it was just to boring for me. The main character was so blah. I hate books that tells you instead of shows you. I didn't feel a connection to either character. My biggest issue is the female gets into 3 different scenarios 2 serious ones and she tries to tell the people who saved her life twice she wants to go home even though she knows shes in danger. There is a difference between being strong/independent and being stupid/stubborn and shes the latter.
Loved the characters their different personalities and the gWhole plot line. Seriously demons scare me so this one kept me interested and wanting to find out more! Love the vampires too
Enjoyed, Tre' and Della/ Irina the tale of lost love found and the challenges that arise. A welcoming introduction to the start of the series. The battle of good and evil will have dawning. of the victory. Della was a scared fighter who had strong weaken spirit. Tre was suffering from the sins of the past then he awaken to Della/ Irina found lost love. The battle for the spirit soul commence . On to the next book..
It was a refresher for me about Vampires. The simplicity, yet power. It's a reminder of how much evil really is in this world as well. The book read smooth, no errors that I could see. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series.
Enjoy the book, Action, mystery of past foe and love.Fighting evil and being a protector are hard work to stay alive. Everyone in the story has a past and I can’t wait to figure it out. This a series and you will enjoy the story as the plots thickens. Keep reading to find out
Not the best book by this author, 2 1/2 stars. The writing drug on and the heroin Was irritating. I bought the set so I’m hoping the next books are better. I hate writing bad reviews. It does introduce all of the characters and gives you a feel for them. The end picks up and improves the story, I’m goin to read all the rest, I’ve liked this author in the past, so I’m hoping I can revise my review after I’m done with the rest.
