She writes the truth about porn in America and is panned by the press and reviewers. Seems that she did a service to all in writing on a topic that is troubling and damaging to people. Panning her book puts the media and critics on target as supporting porn. Do we know what gutter their minds are in? Her book needs a reissue. Maybe with a different cover. The porn topic has not gone away. It is insidiously available. And just as damaging to humans no matter how humans will rationalize the problem. Be informed. Get the book.
This was a very well written book that was hard to put down. Pamela Paul did a ton of research and covered absolutely every reason of why porn is bad from a non religious viewpoint and gave examples of how it destroys our relationships, our marriages, and even when you think about, our humanity. Bottom line: Porn objectifies women and also supports the use of violence in a place it doesn't belong...
If anyone has a problem with porn this book is your way to a healthy life again. With it's rather frank and vivid descriptions one can not ignore the devastating realities of the porn world and how it affects society as a whole. Great research and a very well written book. Thank you Pamela Paul for telling it as it is and hopefully opening closed eye's.
Being a muslim doctor I've always wondered about the effects that such a 'disease' has on the human mind and soul. Verily what Ms.Pamela has written is a very important book for everybody who wants to guard himself from this vice and from this dreadful sin knowing now how it ruins ones state of mind. To me personally,it finally provided some objective data which I can now present to my patients who suffer from such disorders and to everybody around me who may suffer from it. It really is a worth-reading book.
Interesting book.
I read this book in the midst of a relationship with a man who has a problem with pornography. I initially bought it, thinking it might give me some insight into the problems we were having but I had no idea how profoundly it would change how I saw every area of my life. After reading this book non-stop for two days, I felt like I had been living in a fun house for the past 10 years and had only now realized it. In the parts of the book where it talks about relationships, I saw my relationship with my boyfriend for the first time. I felt like the blinders had been taken off of me, and all the things that had always bothered me about our relationship started to make sense.I am not surprised that many men are defensive and angry about this book - that was the same response I got from my boyfriend when I told him what I was learning.I broke up with my boyfriend soon after reading this book. This book has changed my life, and I thank Pamela for writing it.
This is an amazing book. It truly depicts how our society has become so accepting about porn. Which can become such huge problem for our future generations to come. Even in present day it is a big problem and not enough is being done to solve the problem. One reason is that porn has become a huge industry and power that very few people are willing to deal with this problem of porn being so easily accessible for anyone to view it. This book gives a lot of information about how porn has become part of modern culture and also give ideas to how deal with this problem.
I needed to understand a man's need and/or desire for porn and the impact it has on others. Very informative book!
