About the Author

While growing up in Olympia, Washington, Allison Williams spent much of her childhood climbing trees and reading books at the top. Family vacations involved camping in the shadow of Mount Rainier or exploring the very dark, probably haunted tunnels of Port Townsend's old forts.Allison received her bachelor's degree in biology and English from Duke University, with studies at Oxford University and an ethnobiology field school in Costa Rica. She worked as a writer and editor in New York City for eight years, including staff positions at Metro daily newspaper and Time Out New York. When the lure of the Northwest's mountains, drizzle, and summer berry harvests became impossible to ignore, she relocated to Seattle. She has since realized two lifelong dreams: summiting Mount Rainier and poking sticks into the campfire without being disciplined.Allison earned her MFA in creative writing at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where her fiction thesis won the Jason Wenger Award for Literary Excellence. Her journalistic work has been recognized with awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and a nomination from the City and Regional Magazine Association. As senior editor at Seattle Met magazine, she covers travel and the outdoors by hiking every trail and driving every road she can find on a map.

I live in Portland Oregon but was taking a road tripTo Canada! This was my life line! I used it to get to all the best places in Washington along my way up-port angela and such, explained the ferries and the options, websites and all, also the routes to Victoria Canada and the things to do there: I loved Canada by the way! I even left the book in a hotel realized it and called the hotel to pick it back up thank god they had it! I love this book!

My first step on planning any trip is to buy the Moon travel guide for wherever I'm going. I've been using them for years now and they've always led me to great hotels, delicious restaurants, and fun things to see. I only used the Seattle, Portland, and Oregon Coast chapters of this book (I read the Mt. Rainier chapter, but my visit there was so foggy that I couldn't see any of it), but with them I planned a perfect trip to the Pacific Northwest. Thanks to Moon for another excellent travel guide.

This was a huge hit with the receiver of this gift. I looked through it as well and remained impressed with all the information within the book.

I'm using it to plan a future trip to the area

Great up to date book. Love it. I bought two, one for me as a local who gives a lot of tours for visiting family/friends and one for my aunt.

Nice book.

not as much hotel info as i would like

Nice pictures. Good information. I will look for Moon books in the future

A Saint of Our Own: How the Quest for a Holy Hero Helped Catholics Become American, by Kathleen Sprows Cummings

Review

A superb book: deeply researched, consistently interesting, and beautifully written. Kathleen Sprows Cummings makes history come alive with sparkling prose and surprising insights. Her fascinating study of the lives of some of the most remarkable Catholics in history, and the (often labyrinthine) stories of their canonizations, is a must for every American Catholic—and anyone interested in religion in America."—James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage and The Jesuit GuidePeople are fascinated by saints. Even non-Catholics wonder what this 'canonization stuff' is all about, and Cummings shows it all. Ecclesiastical politics and U.S. politics. Personalities of priests, bishops, nuns, and prominent laypeople. Vatican intrigue (several different layers). Understandings of holiness. And the many stories of the women and men who someone, at some time, decided should enter the official canonization process. Whew!"—Margaret M. McGuinness, author of Called to ServeU.S. Catholics know very little of their own story. Kathleen Sprows Cummings's fascinating account of a largely unexplored facet of American Catholic history, full of wonderful stories, helps remedy that self-imposed amnesia, even as it breaks new ground in the social history of the United States."—George Weigel, Distinguished Senior Fellow and William E. Simon Chair in Catholic Studies, Ethics and Public Policy CenterWhat does it mean to be an American Catholic 'saint'? In this captivating book, Kathleen Cummings explains how and why certain American Catholics have been singled out for canonization. The making of American saints, an arduous process, has always been connected to the Catholic Church's hopes and ambitions for the United States. Filled with memorable stories of reformers, martyrs, and activists, A Saint of Our Own offers a bracing portrait of a church trying to sacralize America—and to redeem it."—Catherine A. Brekus, author of Sara Osborn's WorldI could not put A Saint of Our Own down. In this brilliant history of saint-seeking among American Catholics, Kathleen Sprows Cummings illuminates with wit and learning all the ironies and contradictions of U.S. Catholic history. As Cummings traces in thrilling detail, the intricacies of saint-making were as much a matter of politics and prestige—of who knew whom in Rome, who was in and who was out—as of holiness. Sanctity was forever a moving target, tensely poised between heaven and earth. What did not change, though, was the determination of American Catholics to make their values, struggles, and achievements more visible in the modern world by having them officially represented and recognized in the communion of saints in heaven. This is a great book."—Robert A. Orsi, author of History and Presence

This is a beautiful, absolutely pitch-perfect memoir by Dr. Edith Eger. I was not familiar with Dr. Eger prior to reading this, and I am grateful to her for sharing her story. The book is organized into four sections: Prison, Escape, Freedom, and Healing. I would describe it as three parts memoir, one part therapy. It would be enough, simply for nanogeneraian Dr. Eger to tell us her story and share the important events she witnessed in her lifetime. But she is not satisfied to make this book only about her experience. She is clearly a committed therapist who understands pain and forgiveness uniquely, and has a very powerful message that to truly live a full life, we need to make the choice not only to forgive, but to forgive ourselves.I describe the book as pitch-perfect because from the introduction, Dr. Eger explains that there is no heirarchy when it comes to suffering. She does not tell her story so that the reader will minimize their own suffering in comparison, that would just be another way of judging ourselves. As a therapist, she understands that someone whose suffering may seem superficial to others, is generally attributed to something much more deeply rooted, and representative of a much larger pain. I find it extraordinary that she is capable of empathizing with others to this extent. When you read her story, and I hope you do, you will understand the extent of her personal suffering. Not only what she endured in her youth, but as an adult coming to terms with everything she lost, and finding a way to let it be her strength, instead of imagining what her life would have been had it not been interrupted by the cruelty and injustice of the Holocaust. I can not find the words to describe the depth of her compassion.Life is about choices, and I am guilty of the destructive thinking that Dr. Eger drescribes in the book. In my Midewestern upbringing, I was raised to take responsibility for my choices. I pride myself in this responsibility. What this book has made me realize that often in my experience, this has been a punishing idea - there are choices, and there are consequences. But life is not that simple, there are choices and more choices. Often we choose to punish ourselves. In doing so, we are imprisoning ourselves with our own beliefs - of not feeling worthy, a fear of making a bad choice... The author is open about choices she made in her own life, and that they may not have been the best ones. Everyone suffers. Everyone has endured the consequences of their own poor choices. But to live our best life, we must continue to make choices, instead of allowing ourselves to be imprisoned by our past.Thank you, Dr. Edith Eva Eger for sharing your story and your wisdom. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of The Choice for review. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a copy from Amazon as a gift.

I have read and re-read this powerful book, and I am now giving copies to my family because I believe the message within is so very important. Dr. Eger, has humanity in every pore of her being, and I wish she was in the Midwest so we could meet her in person. I found myself learning so much through reading this book, learning things about myself, and recognizing things in those that I love, I am hopeful that I can improve as a person and help my loved ones now I have this very valuable information. Everyone has trauma or upset in their lives of some type or another, but few of us know how to handle these things. Dr. Eger shows us with real compassion how to look at ourselves, and how to forgive ourselves, which ultimately is the most challenging thing.. I wish more psychologists were like her, most that I have encountered lack the humanity needed to help guide a person to health, most seem to be talking textbooks and do not look at the real person in front of them, they just try to fit them into a textbook diagnosis and I do not see that ever being an answer. The idea of meaning and purpose in life makes perfect sense, and I truly believe that is what human beings need above all else to thrive in this world. I highly recommend this book, it truly is amazing in every way. Thank you Dr. Eger for your wonderful book, it is a privilege to know your story and gain so much wisdom from it and from you.

An inspiring book like this should be given to all who struggle with themselves. The choices the author made as a young girl are nothing short of amazing, and the way in which she managed to spread her message is miraculous. We know that this sort of miracle only happens when someone is determined and grateful for the insight they have been given by the circumstances which challenged them. This book has a very strong message for us all.

Wha can I say about this beautiful book? In simple but clear and honest words, Edith Eger tells a story of utter horror and fear and how she survived it and then overcame the perils of her survival.Eger’s message is similar to than of her onetime mentor Victor Frankl: how you understand hardship and tragedy will determine not only how you survive, but whether you can stay sane and forge meaning out of it. Without denying the deep hurt and fear, we have to find ways to embrace humanity in the midst of tragedy. If we refuse to search for meaning, to create meaning, then we surrender to the forces of darkness.Almost every sentence is a little gem, clear and full of poetic truths. This is the only way this story could be told, with a radical kind of directness and honesty.

This book reveals the true story of how one young woman transformed her tragic experiences of death and despair in World War ll concentration camps into a meaningful life journey to heal herself and others from pain and destruction. Dr. Ever is a "Phoenix" who rises from the ashes of inhumanity to courageously free herself from the misery of her past. As Eva Ever earns her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she learns how to reclaim and honor her emotions without blaming others. This healing enables her to empathize with her patients who struggle with taking responsibility for their own welfare and learn to forgive and let go of past pain. Dr. Ever illuminates the message in Dr Frankl's book," Mans Search For Meaning." Both are profound, powerful books.

I had the HONOR TO MEET Dr Eger...this is a must read for everyone! She was such a beautiful woman inside and out! Made everyone she met feel so special...She is amazing...I cannot say enough great things about her...so humble...and I was humbled to meet her!She is such an amazing and sharp public speaker, it was great to hear her talk to a auditorium full of middle school children!

I'm sorry to say, that while the concept is interesting, the execution is not on par with other R.A. Steffan books. With all scifi/fantasy/PNR, etc., you have to suspend disbelief but this requires so much more than the usual adult PNR that it comes across as YA in several instances. There are also multiple areas of clearly different writing styles which was jarring and instances of telling not showing (ie: Della thinking the staircase looks like the one in Gone with the Wind; which is in no way additive to setting the stage) that were just too much for me to overcome. As a result I don't anticipate continuing this particular series but continue to look forward to reading other works by R.A. Steffan.

Some books are fantastic. Some books are just OK and then you have some that are just bad. This book was bad! I have been looking for a new vampire romance series to get into. I was so excited when I found this one. Boy, was I disappointed!I didn’t think the heroine was really a solid character. Most of the time the book talked about her former life. I just felt that her former life had more description then her current personality. It also talked about how much the hero loved her former life and just automatically loved her because of that. That really doesn’t do it for me.I think this is why I do not like books that involve reincarnation. I understand the concept of having one soul with multiple lifetimes.. but it just contradicts my believe that people change over time and certainly through different time periods. So we’re not the same people. And I want somebody to love me for me not the 112 other “me” floating throughout time. Because I would disassociate myself from them as different people. Connected people but still individual people. But also I just didn’t the story to be engaging. And I also don’t think the author did a good job connecting the storyline from one segment to another. I just didn’t find storyline to be logical or reasonable. The heroine would have internal dialogue with herself that contradicted with her actions. And not only could I not connect with the main characters, the secondary characters were also just blah. The author tried so hard to make Xander the funny quirky but lovable sidekick...fail.I’m just one of those people that have to finish a book if I bought it. And I lost interest probably after 1/3 of the book. And just forced myself to get through all the chapters. What a waste of time, i know! No way am I going to read the second book in the series.. Walking away right now. Looking for new romantic vampire series to invest in. And I recommend that you walk away too, if you value your time and money.

I really tried to get into this book. But it was just to boring for me. The main character was so blah. I hate books that tells you instead of shows you. I didn't feel a connection to either character. My biggest issue is the female gets into 3 different scenarios 2 serious ones and she tries to tell the people who saved her life twice she wants to go home even though she knows shes in danger. There is a difference between being strong/independent and being stupid/stubborn and shes the latter.

Loved the characters their different personalities and the gWhole plot line. Seriously demons scare me so this one kept me interested and wanting to find out more! Love the vampires too

Enjoyed, Tre' and Della/ Irina the tale of lost love found and the challenges that arise. A welcoming introduction to the start of the series. The battle of good and evil will have dawning. of the victory. Della was a scared fighter who had strong weaken spirit. Tre was suffering from the sins of the past then he awaken to Della/ Irina found lost love. The battle for the spirit soul commence . On to the next book..

It was a refresher for me about Vampires. The simplicity, yet power. It's a reminder of how much evil really is in this world as well. The book read smooth, no errors that I could see. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series.

Enjoy the book, Action, mystery of past foe and love.Fighting evil and being a protector are hard work to stay alive. Everyone in the story has a past and I can’t wait to figure it out. This a series and you will enjoy the story as the plots thickens. Keep reading to find out

Not the best book by this author, 2 1/2 stars. The writing drug on and the heroin Was irritating. I bought the set so I’m hoping the next books are better. I hate writing bad reviews. It does introduce all of the characters and gives you a feel for them. The end picks up and improves the story, I’m goin to read all the rest, I’ve liked this author in the past, so I’m hoping I can revise my review after I’m done with the rest.

#53,092 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Fourth edition D&D really got a bum rap. The game was very different from its predecessors and many didn't like the feel of the game compared to what they were used to. I absolutely understand this complaint and made it myself many times. But over the course of a 2 year campaign and a couple of shorter arcs, I started to really figure things out. Now, after a multiyear campaign in 5E, my group has decided to return to 4E.So, about the book and the game. The book is well built and sturdy. The binding is strong and the text and fonts and design are grade A. This is a book for people who enjoy reading. It is clear and easy on the eyes, with plenty of quality original artwork. Just based on the layout and design, it is by far my favorite PHB of all the D&D hardbacks. It is beautiful. The 1st editions are classics and I love them to this day, but the information flow and layout is simply not very good. The text is very dense and there is not enough artwork IMO. The 2nd edition books were quirky with very limited color (just blue, with a few full page full color pieces throughout(. They maintained the strange 3 column layout that was a holdover from the Mentzer Basic softcovers and modules. Something that actually worked well on a small 32 page booklet but felt strange in a full size hardback. Third edition was an abomination of visual design. Horrible fonts printed over parchment like pages with lines and sigils and all manner of nonsense in the background made every page an impossible chore to read. The covers were hideous and lets be frank, the spines on the 2E, 3E and 5E books are just ugly. The spines on the 4E books are glorious. I own almost all the books across every edition, being a collector, and the 4E books are a sight to behold on my shelves. As for the content. We get the core races and most of the core classes one would expect. The only ones notably absent are the Barbarian and Druid, and perhaps the Gnome. All of which were introduced in PHB2 (along with the Primal power source). Extras for this edition PHB 1 include Tieflings and Dragonborn as well as Warlords, a class built to lead others in battle, to help inspire and empower other characters with their charismatic words and impressive actions. We also get all the combat rules, feats, magic items, a simplified skill system and the biggest portion of the book, and probably the most controversial, the "powers". The designers of 4E, I think, made an honest effort to address many complaints about D&D that had existed since the early days of the original game, complaints like wizards start too weak and get too powerful. Like the complaint that fighters don't get enough interesting things to do and eventually just carry the casters gear. That multiclassing was breaking the game. That DM prep was out of control and things like balancing an encounter took hours at higher levels and still was hit or miss. Nevermind whether or not these complaints were legitimate, they existed, were common and even pervasive at the time.To address this, they made some major changes to the core system. And killed a few sacred cows along the way. If you had ever made these complaints, you were probably happy. If you hadn't, you might see this new edition as solving problems that didn't exist. And even if you were open minded you would eventually admit that the solutions of these problems lead to some problems of their own.Early in 4th edition (and certainly in this PHB), we see all the classes have a similar structure. You get to pick similar numbers of "powers" (which are really just mechanical abilities of your class) at the same points in the level progression. This enabled a natural power balance among the classes, solving a huge complaint from earlier editions. The casters no longer necessarily ran off and left the Fighters holding their gear. Advancement was now consistent between classes. 3rd edition had started down this path with a unified XP table for all classes. Something that also chapped the hides of traditionalists. As for skills, gone are skill points. You no longer had that granular control over an elaborate list of skills that included all sorts of esoteric game elements that might never come into play. Replacing it was a much simplified list of skills that could be either trained or untrained and that improved automatically with level. Some will miss the granularity. Others will welcome not having a host of skills that never saw the light of day. The skills include things like Perception, Insight, History, Religion, Thievery, Streetwise, Athletics, Acrobatics, Arcana and Endurance.Another big change was to saving throws. In early editions of the game, there were 5 categories of saving throws, like vs. Spells, Petrification, or Death Ray. In 3rd edition, these were consolidated down to Fortitude, Reflex, and Will. 4th edition took it a step further and turned them into defenses. So instead of someone doing something that causes you to save against these numbers, now, your enemy would attack you and roll against these defense scores, much the same way the enemies roll against armor class. So instead of having your AC and 5 or 3 Saves. You simply had 4 defense scores. Each one being the target of a various subset of attack types. Saving throw as term still survived as something you did to remove a debilitating condition such as being dazed, or slowed, or poisoned. You would do this at the end of your turn, or continue being subject to the debilitating condition. Also, saves are used to avoid certain things, like being pushed over a cliff or while unconscious to determine if your condition worsens or gets better. In all these cases, the roll requires a 10 or better on a D20. It's basically a "one last chance" roll in these cases.Monster design took a dramatic shift back to earlier editions. In first edition, monsters were kind of their own thing. They often had their own rules and mechanics, some elaborate and often based on existing rules structures. But frequently they were completely unique. This made monsters mysterious but also someone painful to learn and run. You needed to do a lot of reading to run a monster correctly making pickup games harder. 3rd edition attempted (in its "unification or death" design goals) to unify monster design by forcing it to exist within the exact same rules structure as players. This sounds great on paper but lead to some of the most elaborate and difficult to manage monster blocks of any game I've played. Trying to add classes to monsters and choose their spell lists and determine what that would do to their challenge rating, was maybe the worst part of 3rd edition. The complaints were pervasive and many people would simply stop playing at level 10-15 due to the challenge involved in running those games. 4th edition made a goal of making it easier on DMs, making prep quick and painless and making running the game smooth and simple. They largely succeeded but failed on several fronts. Monster blocks are a godsend. Everything you need to run the monster fits in their stat block. No more looking up spells to run a monster. No more monsters having lists of abilities that will never see the light of day. Creating balanced encounters (or easy or hard) was so simple as to require no math whatsoever. Just pick out the same number of monsters at the save level of your players and you're good to go. Add more levels to make it harder, remove levels to make it easier. From -4 to +4 for super easy to super hard.So what went wrong? Well, a lot depending on who you talk to. Some will say the feel of the game changed. It wasn't D&D anymore. Some will say they miss some of the options they had before. Some will say the game feels to much like a video game. Some will say the classes having similar structure makes them too "samey". Some will complain the combats take too long. Some complain that too much power was taken from the DM. Some will say the characters are now super powered and its harder to tell more simple gritty stories, rather that something akin to D&D Supers. There is some truth to all these complaints. But a diligent gamer can overcome almost all of them, and find a game that is fun, fast, simple and feels like D&D did decades ago.If you like tactical challenges and a combat heavy game experience, 4E might just be perfect for you. If you like the mechanics to take a backseat to story, 4E can accommodate you nicely. If you want a game that is obviously derived from its forbears, you may be disappointed. This is really a ground up redesign. Many of the elements share little more than a name with their predecessors. In closing, I think this is a good game, deserves the title of Dungeons & Dragons and history will view it as an important excursion into the unknown that may have failed but was successful in many ways. In its firey ashes we found 5E which seems to be a grand success, but in many ways has rejected some of the advances of 4E. While this was probably a commercial necessity, it is also somewhat unfortunate. But, thankfully, they kept many of the successful innovations of 4E. DM prep is still pretty simple, the monster blocks are still much better than 3E and the game still has a clean and elegant presentation throughout. If you like 5E or even 1E D&D and want something a little different with some elements that really make the game stand out, I highly recommend taking a look.

The 4th edition of the world's oldest role-playing game... Also the most controversial edition of the world's oldest role-playing game. While it may have been the source of many heated debates especially in it's early days it's all too easy to discredit this game as the black sheep of the D&D family, and write it off entirely due to this reputation... While this reputation isn't entirely unjustified what we have here is an extremely well developed, and mechanically interesting game system. The 4th edition system, at it's core, is the d20 system many of us have become familiar with over the years. What created such a different and unique gameplay experience was the departure that the design team took from the typical D&D experience. In my opinion this feels like the first, and only time the designers took a long look at what D&D fundamentally is, and then proceeded to nitpick each feature, and sacred cow while simultaneously asking "Is this actually fun, and how does it play at the table?" And while this philosophy led to some pretty radical design changes, both good and a little rough around the edges... 4th edition remains at it's very core, D&D.If you like D&D but want something a little different 4th edition should be a must try. With how ridiculously cheap the core books, and essentials products are now, there's no reason not to add this important milestone in D&D's history to your collection.

I very much enjoy 4e. It may not be the most versatile of the systems, but it is fun none the less. When you appreciate it for what is trying to accomplish you can enjoy it more. From the new DM standpoint, I am very happy it exists. My plan was to run this for a while before moving either to the new D&D edition, or trying 3.5. For new players the starting levels from 4e are very easy to understand, I picked up sleeves to put power cards in. Our group is very new over all and having something to sharpen our skills on before trying tougher systems is great. My plan is to buy fifth edition as our next place to go. I have been reading through the published adventures and have been very happy with the ease or reading and running these. If you've been playing forever, my advice is to jump over 4e. If you haven't played much before, or are planning on starting to run for the first time. Then I advise picking up 4e and giving it a shot. You might not stay on the system for a very long time, but it will get you used to being behind the screen and running an adventure.

Arrived on time in good condition. Happy to be returning to 4e, and moving away from 5e, and happy to know that my recollection of their quality was correct: 4e books are of a MUCH better quality of construction and composition than the 5e books, are significantly longer, and include MUCH more material and MUCH less filler (the font is about the same size, but there are fewer blank spaces between lines and paragraphs and sections, and those that exist are smaller than those of 5e books -- they are the necessary spaces they should be, not the blatant filler-space of 5e).

Going on my 5th year of running D&D Summer Camps Each kid gets there own PHB, miniature, t-shirt, dice and more! So much fun! 4th edition, is easy to learn and easy to prepare, that is the perfect combination for camp! In addition my adult group is still getting a lot of mileage from 4e love it!

When it comes to Japan's larger cities, I've always opted for Tokyo over Osaka...but I have to say, I kind of fell in love with Osaka and it's probably because of some of the places I experienced in this guide. I really only had a few days and mostly hit up the Shopping suggestions, but this guide took me to some fantastic off-the-beaten path places. Since the streets are kind of hard to navigate in Osaka, I really had to rely on the abstract map in the back to find some of these places, but once I got there I was happy. I really enjoyed the old Mitsubishi offices turned boutiques...mysterious, eerie, and Margiela! They also had a really neat architectural bookstore in there that had Japanese copies of Le Corbusier's Modular. I'm kickin' myself for not buying those. I will definitely recommend Osaka over Tokyo to any friends travelling abroad....it's cheaper, has good shopping, and is a hop-skip away from Kyoto!

I am very impressed with Phaidon City Guides ,the images are simply great,And Love the size of the book.It is NOT a travel guide but rather a pic book, with very unique and interesting photos and small bios of locations and/or places to see and go,Planning to keep adding some more to my collection.

I recently purchased two books from this series for a trip to Oslo and Stockholm. I did not find them useful at all and got alot more information from the City websites as well as the Tourist Information booths when I arrived in each city. Even the maps included in the books were not helpful as they were too small. I was not familiar with this series when I purchased the books and could not open them to view them on the Amazon site - maybe that should have deterred me from purchasing them. I would not recommend these at all.

Absolutely useless. Laughable in the way it points you to the ugliest sights in Riga, ignoring the myriad beautiful ones.

That book arrived in good qualiity. And I'm enjoying reading it.Thanks for that you have the book in stock.

Tiny book with pretty graphic design but not so much content. After living in Osaka for 4 months, I found myself visiting ZERO places mentioned in this book.

I ordered this (and unfortunately a few other cities as well) thinking they would be little fit in your pocket type things that would contain helpful information on what to see in each city. What they are is just a heap of stupid artisty type photographs of the inside of hotel rooms, random people's flats, cafes, restaurants, shops, and other things you aren't going to be interested in seeing. There's even a page of a photograph of someone's CD and action figure collection in this Oslo one. Doesn't even have the outsides of any things you would actually go and look at and maybe photograph yourself when walking around Oslo. Nor an even half decent map, on the back cover there is a colour map of Oslo yet most of the street names are missing. So useless to find your hostel or whatever you're looking for. No information on how to get to the airports, especially the far away ones that Ryanair and the budget airlines use. A complete waste of money!

Wallpaper city guides are unique because they highlight innovative and eye-catching architectural gems. Osaka is an industrial city that features a few of these gems. The Wallpaper guide maps it out so you do not miss them.I grabbed dinner and cocktails at the Dojima hotel. It was spectacular. I also went to one of the recommendations in the "escapes" section: the Yodoko house in Hyogo. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Viewing it changed my life. I will never look at a room the same way again. It's an obscure place that I never would have stumbled upon without this guide. This guide is for chic travelers who want to venture out and explore the city in the most stylish locations. This is a guide for those who enjoy fine architecture.
